I
had an open case with the Virginia Division of Child Support
Enforcement for more than three years. During that time
nothing was ever accomplished. I was the one doing the
work. I researched to find my ex's employer. When the Virginia
DCSE contacted him based on my information, all he had
to do was lie. My ex told them that he was taking care
of our child, and they dropped it!! When they told me this,
I was stunned.
I
was appalled by the DCSE's lack of knowledge. I knew more
about policy and procedure than they did, and this made
it incredibly easy for my ex to get away without paying
for our child. When I became too tired to deal with the
DCSE in Virginia anymore, I went directly to the court
on my own. When I did this, they forced me to drop my case
with DCSE for more than $5,000.
My
ex now owes more than $10,000, and I have employed a private
child support collection agency for help. Until the Virginia
DCSE starts to work for the custodial parent and NOT the
deadbeat, private child support collection agencies are
the best option for parents like me. |
